Suicide Prevention 101 for Parents: Recognizing Signs and What to Do—April 20 and April 21

In partnership with the CDE, the California Mental Health Services Authority, the Directing Change Program, and Teen Line invite all parents to this free webinar and Facebook Live event spanning over two days that will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide, how to have a conversation with their teen, actions to take if their teen is having a suicidal thought, and resources. This webinar will be offered in English on April 20 and in Spanish on April 21. The CUSD has adopted new guidelines for Covid-19 exposure and testing. Students who are in an indoor setting with a positive person for more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period will be notified of a potential exposure. All students who were exposed will be required to mask for 10 days. All students who were exposed will be recommended to test 3-5 days after exposure.

Calipatria Unified has testing available 5 days a week at each school site. BYMS testing is Tuesdays.

CUSD Board of Trustees took action to make masks optional at March 14 board meeting. Masks are optional but are strongly recommended for staff and students.

Students who need dental services can apply to see Big Smiles Program staff.

Update 2/4/22

This communication is to inform you of 1 positive Covid -19 cases at Bill E. Young Jr. Middle School campus on Friday, 2/4/22.

The affected individuals have been isolated. Close contacts have been identified and notified of possible exposure. If you have Not been contacted by the District, your student was not identified as a close contact of the Covid 19- positive person.

In accordance with Public Health Department guidance, your student’s classes will remain open for in person instruction.

Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of illness everyday and have your child stay home if he/she is sick. Please contact your health-care provider if your child develops symptoms or if you have any additional questions or concerns. Please notify the school if any symptoms develop. Please know that the health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority.

Esta comunicación es para informarle de 1 caso positivo de Covid -19 en el campus de la escuela Bill E. Young Jr. el 4 de febrero del 2022.

La persona afectada ha sido aislada. Se han identificado los contactos cercanos y se les ha notificado sobre una posible exposición. Si NO ha sido contactado por el Distrito, su estudiante no fue identificado como un contacto cercano de la persona positiva de Covid 19.

De acuerdo con la guía del Departamento de Salud Pública, las clases de su estudiante permanecerán abiertas para instrucción en persona.

Continúe monitoreando a su hijo para detectar síntomas de enfermedad todos los días y que se quede en casa si está enfermo.
